Requirements for Cross Registering Animals

Requesting VBSS registration of animals registered in another Valais Blacknose registry

Email the following to crystal@legacyregistries.com:

  1. Clear images of the issued registration certificate (front and back) from the other organization showing proof of ownership.

  2. Proof of parentage verification by DNA testing.

  3. If the animal does not have genotyping on file with Flock54, the owner will also be required to submit samples for DNA testing through VBSS. Please specify which DNA kit is preferred:

    • All Inclusive Kit - Includes an Allflex TSU, animal list, sample label, and prepaid return USPS shipping label)

    • BYO Allflex TSU Kit - Includes animal list, sample label, and prepaid address label. Members must provide their own Allflex TSU and pay for return shipping.)

    • BYO Non-Allflex TSU Kit - Includes animal list, sample label, and address label. Members must provide their own non-Allflex TSU and pay for return shipping.)

    • Hair Kit - Includes animal list, sample label, hair collection envelope, and address label. We discourage the use of hair samples as they are more likely to fail at the lab.

All of the above must be submitted and payment rendered before the VBSS will consider the cross-registration of any animal. No rams below 87.5%  and no ewes below 50% purity shall be considered for admittance.
